Blog your location with Geocode
By admin | June 14, 2006
I have added a new map to my blog. Its a free service created by feed map. It uses Longitude, Latitude and Altitude to display a map of your location on your blog. Plus, it also shows you other local bloggers in your area.
This is a great way of displaying your location for people visiting, and it also offers some excellent networking opportunities to interact with other bloggers in the local area. Check out my map on this blog.
You need to geocode your blog for this to work. This basically means adding some extra tags either to your homepage or your rss feed. Although this seems like a pain when you first try and work it out. Actually, this is going to be a big feature in the future. Imagine the possibilities of using locational information when searching for services in the area you are visiting, or tieing in with mobile advertising services.
Check out how to geocode your blog here: http://interactive.linuxjournal.com/node/8025/
As with all Web 2.0 elements, it is a Beta. Well it wouldn’t be a web 2.0 element unless it was a Beta!
Check it out and get your own map at http://www.feedmap.net/.
